Bhopal still weeps

June 9th, 2010 | 2 Comments | Posted in Poems

Night is dark
It assumed the color of death
Justice is blind
So we removed our eyes

In 1984
Death visited us
In the form of MIC
We were innocent
We prayed almost everyday
We feared god
Yet the gas took our lives
Years have passed
We lived our death
Swallowed our tears

There was a hope
We believed in justice
Till the day we realized that it is blind
It has no sympathy!
Union carbide was a mistake
Justice has whitewashed it

There was no result for our endless waiting
Bhopal is the name of a wound
An incurable wound!

They would say to forget
How can we forget our tears
The smell from the dead bodies
How can we forget the dark sky
The last smiles of our babies
How can we forget our wasted years
The blood and the breath
How can we forget

Now Bhopal is the name of a protest
A protest against all exploitation
A protest against injustice
A protest against all odds
Which make our lives miserable
Let’s join this battle
Long live Bhopal memories…
