Twitter: The name of a phenomenon

March 5th, 2010 | 17 Comments | Posted in Current Affairs

It started only in 2006. With a span of 4 years (will complete the four year tenure only in March) it has become an online phenomenon. This phenomenon is called Twitter. Twitter answers the question ‘what are you doing now’ round the clock. Twitter has defined microblogging in it’s way. According to www.internetworldstats.com there are 173.4 Cr internet users in the world. Twitter is the most used word in the world now a days. In my view why twitter is more popular is because of it’s simplicity and user friendliness. In it’s communications also the company uses simple and easy to understand languages. Twitter is beneficial to all. For the 30 Cr bloggers around the world it is a very handy tool. When you publish through twitter the visibility increases rapidly.
In all their communications they state that they have lot to do, this underlines the dynamism of the company. In the third quarter of 2009, the revenue of the company was only $400,000. Comparing to the popularity and revenue potential the figure is much less. People around the globe use twitter for information collection also. This is indeed a great achievement for the company.
Google was the earlier phenomenon. Now twitter is. Apart from Facebook and allother social networking sites the main advantage of twitter is it is easy to handle and simple in nature. People normally don’t want to write much, so twitter is customer satisfactory too, since it only requires your 140 letters (only 1.5 minute). In the recent communication Biz Stone stated that they have grown 1500 percent in terms of customers and 500 percent in terms of employees. Twitter has 140 employees now. Which means only 140 full-time employees, apart from that they have thousands of dedicated platform developers. Altogether they have created 70,000 registered applications.
Twitter customers around the globe crossed 7.5 Cr mark. Accordinf to Mashable.com, the most popular social media website, Twitter crossed 10 billion tweets land mark. From San Fancisco Twitter had quite a long journey so far. Not only in developed countries but in developed nations also Twitter is very popular. Now the twitter bird is flying every where devoid of nation, race or colour. The net SMS way gathered much attention. Mobile twitter users are making it more popular. Thanks to Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams and Biz Stone. There is a chirp Twitter developer conference first of it’s kind in 14,15 April 2010. Tweets will replace email in the long run. Wishing all the very best to Twitter and it’s employess, you have changed our world.

Hi, Great blog you have here. I wanted to let you all know that I think Twitter is going to be one of the best networks because of the fact that it is supported by so many industries. I also think when Twitter introduces some of it’s new features, returning traffic will go up to show the real growth of the network.

Anyway, I build a website that gives away great resources for Twitter that are 100% free, so come and visit and don’t be a stranger.

    Keep up the great work!
