Oh, My God!, Football World cup has come

March 4th, 2010 | No Comments | Posted in Worldcup 2010

After four years of long wait FIFA worldcup finally started. World is now a ‘Jabulani’.  I have watched the two opening games. Both ended in a draw. Tshabalala of south africa is the first goal scorer of this worldcup.

I am with Brazil as always. But I do appreciate the magic of Argentina. My dream is that an African nation enters the semi final of this worldcup. If south africa wants to reach there they have to really work hard.
I was thinking about the hockey world cup. Suddenly a thought struck in my mind. It was about the much awaited FIFA world cup. After a long gap of four years world cup is going to happen in South Africa. This is the third world cup of 21st century. We had Brazil and Italy as the two winners so far. From Uruguay to Italy it has been an amazing journey so far. 80 years!, only 5 world cups to finish a century long saga. From Rome to South Africa this game has created so many icons. Some came as nothing and conquered, some came with everything and went out heads down!. The slogan is well true’ football without frontiers’ -for sure football is the only game which can erase boundaries.
My first world cup memory is of Roberto Bagio’s. That is in 1994. His useless penalty shot and the sorrow of millions. He was not my favorite but I hadn’t any favorite in that world cup. I was only 10, but the game of football fascinated me. 1998 world cup was pretty good experience. During that that I got the chance of seeing all the matches with my friends. Brazil was my favorite but I hated Rolando. My favorite star was zinedine zidane in 1998 world cup. The world cup has seen an emerging football giant and a New world champion, France. For the first world cup in the 21st century Ronaldinho of Brazil was my favorite star. His free kick against England still reflects in my mind. Brazil had done splendid job to fetch the world cup and once again proved that they are real heroes of football.
As always I backed Brazil for the 2006 world cup. But they became under performers. I hate the defense game of Italy but they proved that defense is as important as attack in football. They became world champions for the fourth time. Marco Materazzi was the villain of that world cup, I will never forgive him. After eight years France had  done a wonderful job in that world cup. World cup memories never fades. Now it is 2010. South Africa and the world is ready for the big show. World cup will be played from June 11,2010 for one month. FIFA president had announced so many social welfare schemes during the drawing ceremony. I give thumps up to it. According to FIFA website only 98 days to go for the kick-off.
I have a dream. This time, for the first time ever, the world champion will be from Africa. Everything is possible, why this is not. Let the world unite under one religion, wishing all the very best to the 32 nations and it’s players. Awaiting to watch the world under one roof, football. African, Asian and Latin American countries will forget their miseries and they will fight for the cup, that will possibly change their fate….If a world can unite the world that word surely is world cup.
