Wordpress.com is down; bloggers are dead
It happened all at once. The service of Wordpress.com immediately down. It came as a shock for the bloggers around the globe. Majority of the blogs in the blogosphere are hosted by wordpress. Around 92 lakhs blogs down at once.
Matt Mullenweg: founder of Automattic, the business behind WordPress.com: said in an intimation:
“We’re investigating the source and the most expedient fix. I hope to have everyone’s blogs back and running as soon as possible.”
Everyday thousands of blogs are added through wordpress.com. The easiness and the increased traffic made wordpress the most suitable platform for bloggers. According to Quantcast, around 220 million people visit one or more WordPress.com blogs every month.
Today’s incident once again proved the power of blogs around the globe. The Increased interest about blogging was the major reason behind this worry.
In his official communication Matt Mullenweg made the following statement:
“We are still gathering details, but it appears an unscheduled change to a core router by one of our datacenter providers messed up our network in a way we haven’t experienced before, and broke the site. It also broke all the mechanisms for failover between our locations in San Antonio and Chicago. All of your data was safe and secure, we just couldn’t serve it.
We need to dig deeper and find out exactly what happened, why, and how to failover more gracefully next time and isolate problems like this so they don’t affect our other locations.”
At present we can believe his words and hope that nothing like this will happen in the future. Proper care should be taken to manage such a huge amount of data. If it is lost 92 lakhs people would never forgive.I blog in wordpress. After hearing this news I pray that incidents like this should not happen in future.
